Dinner with Tony Frank, who Jim met on his last trip around the world. Tony, a fascinating man, owns and runs Nachtmann Crystal. We began with Moet & Chandon champagne. Then Tony encouraged us to go with the gourmet menu. Then he ordered a 1994 Pinot Grigio from Frulio vineyard and I did not expect much from the wine since I’ve never tasted an outstanding Pinot Grigio. Shock, shock – this wine was superb. For dinner, we began with a goose liver pate, then ate scallops over lettuce, oxtail soup, lamb and finished with coconut mousse for dessert.
