Our office in New York received a fax dated 5 June 2000 from Angola’s Minister of Tourism and Hotels saying he regretted that we would not be able to drive through Angola due to “technical reasons”. Since we now stand in the middle of Angola, we wondered how the minister would react when he learned of our status! If we get out of here alive, the fax will certainly be a collector’s item
