From Belgium, we drove into Eschweiler, Germany arriving around 10:30 p.m. We checked into the only hotel – I’ve already learned that Jim’s promise of the nicest hotel in town does not necessarily mean the hotel will be any good. The owner of the inn sold us beers and promised breakfast for the next morning.

To our surprise and definite dismay, when we went downstairs the next morning around 9:00, the man who spoke of breakfast was nowhere to be found. The lady attending the tables told there was no more food. She gave us coffee and orange juice. Jim went into the kitchen and returned with cookies and two oranges, so that was breakfast. I thought this episode was hilarious.
