Jim’s brother, Steve, and his wife, Rosemary Bates, and Mr. and Mrs. Rogers joined us for dinner at the Savoy. We talked about family, folklore, rivalries, births, deaths, grandparents and more. Everyone at the table fell in love with the 1996 Chassagne Montrachet that Jim ordered. We also tried a white one, but the red stood out as the true winner. We finished off two bottles of the red, and Jim’s mother laughed, “Every time I have dinner with y’all, I drink too much and have a headache the next day!” I told her, “With wine like this, accept the ache. One more bottle, please!”
