7 April 1999 – Tonight we will visit a Chinese Muslim restaurant – this is probably the last place we’ll find one, since as we head east, Muslims become fewer and fewer. Went to dinner around 9 p.m. and ate snails, chicken with spicy peppers and sweet rice (steamed rice with fruit mixed in with a sugar glaze on top). We drank a couple of local beers to wash this down.
